  • Not even Hell can hold Sam Kinison

You know Sam Kinison is the king of bad asses when even Hell can’t hold him. That’s not to say that he has risen from the dead (although if there is a party on Earth he wants to go to I wouldn’t put it past him), but he is being honored by his fellow comedians for the hell he raised during his time.

Called Back From Hell: A Tribute To Sam Kinison, this special from Comedy Central remembers Kinison for the over-the-top lung screaming, hell raising, party animal man he was.

And while Kinison’s life as former Pentecostal preacher, turned notorious bad boy, crowned rock ‘n roll comedian is stuff of legend; it was his brilliantly sharp and observational comedy that made him one of the most respected and missed comedians nearly 2 decades later. Read More

The Laugh Button Helped Present Comedy Central’s Midnight CMJ Showcase (photos)

The Laugh Button put on its skinny jeans and ironic sweater last week as one of the presenters of The Comedy Central Midnight Comedy Showcase at Comix Comedy Club in NYC. The showcase went down last Thursday night into Friday and was invite-only event that was hosted by Comedy Central and was part of CMJ’s annual CMJ’s Marathon (CMJ as in College Music Journal, not to be confused with Country Music Jamboree). The Lonely Island Make “Huge-Ass” Announcement About New Album

The comedy troupe The Lonely Island will make its return on CD in 2011. They released a “huge-ass” announcement about it yesterday. The announcement was pretty much a quick skit by Akiva and Jorma (what? No Andy?) and they mention that a new record was coming with no other information.

What we can speculate this means though is we’ll probably see some new songs and skits run on Saturday Night Live in the not too far future.

The Polls Are In, Jon Stewart Is The Best Man In The World

The website askmen.com recently polled other men around the country to find out who they thought were the most influential guys of 2010. Turns out, they all seem to trust the compass that Jon Stewart and the rest of his Daily Show crew are running off. People though Stewart has more influence than men with big money like Richard Branson, and the likes of Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates.

This list also has fellow funny people like Russell Brand, Zach Galifianakis, Conan O’Brien, Stephen Colbert, and David Letterman, which points out another factor…edgy and off center comedians are continuing to make their presence known and the public is embracing their satirical look at life. Not bad for a list that also includes The Old Spice Guy and the guy that jumped out of a Jet Blue airplane.

Dane Cook’s Greatest Hits Arrives November 22nd

On November 22nd, Dane Cook will release I Did My Best: Greatest Hits (Comedy Central Records) which is exactly what it sounds like, a collection of the best DC jokes he has to offer. There’s also going to be 10 minutes of never-before heard material on the album for those that already own all of Dane’s albums.

Since we like to speculate, we figured we’d pick our own list of Cook bits that we’d like to see make the album.

    “Car Accident”

    “The BK Lounge”

    “Not So Kool-Aid”

    “Tire In The Face”

    “The Friends Nobody Likes”

    “Heist/Monkey”

    “Someone Shit On The Coats”

    “Tito”

    “Operation / Monopoly”

    “Role Playing”

    “Twat Swatters”

Saturday Night Live May Have Plagiarized Something…Again

Yikes! It’s only been a month since the previous dust-up where SNL was accused of sketch stealing. Now it seems the new accusation is this weekend’s mock Brett Favre commercial could have been a lifted from a Funny Or Die video that hit the web last week.

The Funny Or Die video depicts a Favre impersonator hocking Wranglers “Dickhole Jeans”, much to the chagrin of the other guys on the field. This is pretty much the exact same joke as SNL’s “Open Fly Jeans” commercial that Jason Sudeikis appeared in.

The FOD video was posted last Wednesday, which in theory gives the SNL writers a window see it and make their own version. But it’s also not much time for that to happen and could have been missed by the writing staff all together. Add onto the fact that it’s a pretty obvious joke to make, especially since the alleged photos of Favre’s man bits hit the web.

Here are the clips in question. Time for you to decide for yourself.

What do you think? Plagiarism? Or just coincidence because it’s a pretty obvious joke?
