  • Burning Bridges: An Interview With Doug Stanhope

Doug Stanhope is notorious for being a guy who doesn’t put up with any bullshit when it comes to his interviews and his comedy. So when I got a chance to talk to him about his ridiculously funny new CD/DVD Oslo-Burning the Bridge to Nowhere, I was kind of scared.

Truthfully, the thought of having someone I respected so much tell me off for being a jabroni didn’t seem that appealing. That aside, I couldn’t turn down a guy who is one of the most honest and brash comedians working today (It doesn’t hurt the fact that “Oslo” is already being spun like crazy on my iTunes). I did my homework and was pleasantly shocked to find out for all the hard-ass persona Stanhope can give off, we gelled pretty well. We talked about his new album, his views on comedy and society, and talked about booze, chicks, and cigarettes. Enjoy.> Read the rest of this entry

Review: Mike Birbiglia Sleepwalk With Me Live

Mike Birbiglia is back with his latest album, Sleepwalk with Me Live, which is a recording of his very popular off-Broadway show. The Massachusetts native is an interesting case of a man with a sleep disorder who happens to be a comedian. Mike sleepwalks, and his sleepwalking leads to some problems, which often involve falling from various heights. Fortunately for Mike, he can take his challenging disorder to the stage, much to audience’s amusement.

On Sleepwalk With Me Live, Mike Birbiglia is your everyman comedian, and his humor is easily relatable. He has no agenda, accept to be funny. He’s not out to offend or shock or question authority. His style is very soothing and carefree, almost like your older cousin coming over to tell you a funny story. He puts the audience at ease, so there is no surprise at what he’ll say next, but it will probably be really funny. Read the rest of this entry

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Changed Their Name, Moved To Seattle

It’s looking like [adult swim] is trying to inject some life into its flagship comedy show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Granted, the show hasn’t made much of a blip on the cultural radar for the last few years, probably because new episodes have been few and far between.

But that doesn’t mean there’s no hope for Meatwad, Master Shake, and Frylock. The trio is going to be relaunched with a new name, and a new show because, “the creators of the show were unhappy with the pilot episode and subsequent 99 episodes” so they are retooling the show as Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1. The show’s location is also moving from Read the rest of this entry
