  • Canada to Dave Chappelle, “Stop with all the smoking on stage”

Here’s a piece of non-news news for you this fine Friday…

It appears Canada doesn’t have much love for Dave Chappelle. The comedian just finished a 3 show pop up tour in Toronto’s Winter Garden Theatre. While on stage, the comedian smoked throughout his sets, something he’s been prone to do. But the city ended up issuing Cappelle a warning for the smoking by the Toronto Public Health department as part of their Smoke-Free Ontario Act which states, “all performers must be in compliance with the [no tobacco use] legislation.”

Spike to tape Eddie Murphy tribute in November

Spike TV is going to air a special celebrating the career of Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy: One Night Only is set to tape in Los Angeles this November and run the gamut from Murphy’s early beginnings as a 15-year old stand-up comedian, getting launched into superstardom on Saturday Night Live, to becoming a movie star.

Don Mischer, who produced Academy Awards events will produce the event which will feature many of the comedian’s co-stars from his classic films including 48 Hrs., Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop, Coming To America, The Nutty Professor, Shrek, and Dreamgirls. The two hour show will feature Murphy, yet there’s no word on whether he’d actually perform a stand-up set, even though its been long-rumored he was interested in making a return. The special will mark the 30 year anniversary of Murphy’s first-ever stand-up special Delirious! so there’d be no better time in our opinion. Read More

    When Hader met Samberg

“I remember getting in the elevator for my audition and there was a guy next to me who had a backpack full of props and wigs and things, and I went, ‘Oh my god, that guy is so prepared, I have nothing, I have no props.’ And that was Andy Samberg. And Andy Samberg said he was looking at me going, ‘Oh, that guy has no props. He doesn’t need props.’ And that was the first time we met, was in that elevator.” – Bill Hader talks about his Saturday Night Live audition on NPR’s Fresh Air.
