Last night on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update Thursday the crew took a break from the political to focus on NFL’s referee strike and the debacle that is replacement refs. The dispute was solved earlier that day so it’s now a question of where said replacement refs can find employment. This sketch tries to figure out what the replacements refs would be good at.
Michael Richards discusses his on-stage meltdown with Jerry Seinfeld in Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee
Jerry Seinfeld’s web series Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee is a pretty interesting look into the world of some of our most well-known comedy minds. Of course it helps when you have Seinfeld himself rallying all his friends to go grab a cup of coffee with him in one of his many cars.
The latest webisode features Michael Richards whom we all know played against Seinfeld for years as Kramer on Seinfeld. Right off the bat you see there’s so much floating around Richards that’s fascinating. He’s a sorta Kramer in real life, and he does a good job of keeping Seinfeld in stitches nearly the entire time the two hang out. Read the rest of this entry
Tina Fey is this week’s cover story on Entertainment Weekly. In the article, breaks down everything from wrapping up the seventh and final season of 30 Rock including a plotline where Tracey Jordan believes that women aren’t funny.
Fey also talks about her early Saturday Night Live days where her “transformation from frumpy behind-the-scenes writer to bespectacled “Weekend Update” sex symbol.” Later going on to discuss her turn making comedy films like Mean Girls, Baby Mama, and the underrated Date Night. Read up.
The new season of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia premieres on FX October 11th and to get us all warm and fuzzy inside they’re giving us a look at the new cast members this season. And it includes Haley Joel Osment as Fat Mac, Xzibit as Sweet Dee, Andrew Dice Clay as Frank, UFC Fighter Chael Sonnen as Dennis, and Candace Cameron as Charlie. Comedian/folk rock troubadour Stephen Lynch will release his highly anticipated fifth album, Lion on November 13th via What Are Records. The album will contain his signature musical comedy snark but perhaps a bit more of a folksy feel this time around.
Lynch states “I wanted this album to have the Americana flavor to it that I love so much in the music of, say, Neil Young or Patty Griffin or Ray LaMontagne. I think it does. And, I’m confident the songs are still funny, if a bit subtler than some of my earlier work. Astute listeners will detect a slight shift of direction, comedy-wise. It’s been six years since Demetri Martin released his last special Demetri Martin. Person. on Comedy Central. During that time he’s starred in his own TV show, Important Things with Demetri Martin, starred in a handful of films, and a published book. But now he’s back where his roots were sown with the release of his new stand-up comedy special, Demetri Martin. Standup Comedian.

Bill Burr was on Conan last night. From watching the clip I’ve come to one conclusion… I just want Bill Burr to come to my office, pull up a chair and just tell me how to live life. Life will just be much better. Bill is also promoting his latest special, You People Are All The Same which he released earlier this year on Netflix.
