The Grammys Need Comedy: “Rize Of The Fenix” by Tenacious D
The 55th Grammy Awards take place February 10th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and allegedly the comedy segment will not be televised. What bullshit! The six badass comedians who are nominated for the Best Comedy Album include Jimmy Fallon, Margaret Cho, Lewis Black, Kathy Griffin, Jim Gaffigan and Tenacious D. These artists are leading the next wave of comedy, making millions laugh, yet the snobs at CBS are choosing not to air the comedy portion of the Grammys. Screw you man, or woman. Screw you both equally!
Each day leading up to the Grammys we are providing breakdowns and our favorite moments each nominated comedian’s albums. If you haven’t heard their newest album, don’t be scared. In each post we will provide links to free videos and songs from your favorite funny people.
One of our favorites, Tenacious D is nominated for Best Comedy Album at the 55th Grammys on Sunday. Rize of the Fenix is an album that clearly highlights both the comedic and musical abilities of the funny Jack Black and Kevin Glass. The studio album was produced by John Kimbrough and released by Columbia Records in May 15, 2012.
One attribute that takes The D’s album to the next level is the bad ass music videos that randomly appeared throughout last year. One of the heavy hitting songs on Tenacious D Grammy nominiated Rize of the Fenix is the song “To Be the Best.” It’s music video is crazy wild as it has many guest stars such as Jimmy Kimmel, Tim Robbins, Val Kilmer, Maria Menousnos, Dave Grohl, Yoshiki and Josh Groban.
The D also released the music video “Roadie” via Funny or Die as the video highlights Danny McBride as the Roadie. Awww man…
