High Plains Comedy Festival has announced its dates, headliners, a new presenting sponsor and VIP Pass sale information as it publicly introduces the return of the popular annual festival for a fourth year. High Plains will take place August 25th through August 27th 2016, at venues on South Broadway and at the Paramount Theatre in Denver. In conjunction with their partner Comedy Works Entertainment, the festival announced this week that this year’s finale show will feature headliners Garfunkel & Oates, along with special guests Kyle Kinane and Cameron Esposito. The headlining show will take place Saturday, August 27th at the Paramount Theatre and tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday, April 29th.
In addition to the headliner announcement, High Plains revealed a new sponsor. Joining its perennial title sponsor Illegal Pete’s, High Plains welcomes truTV as a presenting sponsor for the 2016 festival. truTV is the home to Impractical Jokers, Billy on the Street, The Carbonaro Effect, Adam Ruins Everything, as well as the network’s first original scripted comedy Those Who Can’t. Created by and starring The Grawlix—former Denver darlings Andrew Orvedahl, Ben Roy, and High Plains Comedy Festival founder & executive director Adam Cayton-Holland—Those Who Can’t will return to truTV for a second season in late 2016.
“We couldn’t be more excited about our new partnership with truTV,” says Cayton-Holland. “I know, from working with them on Those Who Can’t, that the truTV team brings high energy and great ideas to all of their creative endeavors. We think their role in this year’s Festival will translate to an elevated experience for performers and audience members alike, and will help shine a national spotlight on High Plains.”
With the addition of truTV, High Plains is looking to expand the number of both showcases and unique themed shows it offers. Full festival VIP Passes go on sale Wednesday, April 27th, and include access to all shows and venues—including mezzanine seating with cocktail service at the headlining show. The Passes also include a high-end, collectible High Plains t-shirt, access to the pre-festival pass pickup party where passholders can mingle with performers, and a private VIP party at the Paramount Theatre before the headlining show—also sponsored by truTV. New this year, buyers can upgrade to a VIP+ Pass to get all of the standard pass benefits plus a limited edition High Plains hoodie. Early bird pricing for the passes is $80 for the VIP and $100 for the VIP+, but quantities are limited at those prices.VIP Festival Passes and tickets to the headlining show go on sale this week right here. Announcements for additional performers, shows, sponsors and events will be rolled out in the coming months.
