Comedian Jim Jefferies has been tapped to host a new late night show for Comedy Central – and, if his recent altercation with Piers Morgan on Real Time with Bill Maher is any indication, we’re excited to see Jefferies bring a much needed zero-bullshit-tolerance to the late night circuit.
Comedy Central has ordered ten episodes of the untitled series to start.
According to Variety, Jefferies’ new project “will take on culture and politics, the cable network said, and will show Jefferies traveling around the world to take on the top issues and most controversial stories of the week.”
This will be an interesting departure for the network, which has tended to package its news-ier shows – like, of course, long-running hit The Daily Show, and the recently canceled Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore – in studio audience-friendly formats.
Jason Reich, formerly of The Daily Show and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, will serve as the show’s head writer.
The series will premiere later this summer on Comedy Central.
