  • Amy Poehler, Edgar Wright, Mitch Hurwitz, Nick Kroll win Just For Laughs ComedyPRO awards

Annual comedy convention Just For Laughs’ ComedyPRO has announced the winners of their Just for Laughs awards. Amy Poehler, Edgar Wright, Mitch Hurwitz, and Nick Kroll have won awards for Comedy Person of the Year, Comedy Director of the Year, Comedy Writer of the Year, and Comedy Breakout Star of the Year, respectively. These will be officially handed out on July 26th, at ComedyPRO’s 6th annual Just for Laughs conference in Montreal. Jeff Ross will return to host the awards again this year.

Poehler is on a roll, having been nominated for an Emmy for three of the five years that Parks and Recreation has been on. Wright, who gained fame with hit movies Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, has a new film, The World’s End, coming out this Summer.  Hurwitz will be receiving his award for Arrested Development, the cult favorite that was finally resurrected earlier this month. He’s the show’s creator and executive producer. Kroll gets his award for his Comedy Central series Kroll Show that just wrapped up its first season and joins other winners of the Award such as Aziz Ansari and Ken Jeong.
