  • JB Smoove Will Soon Bring TheRuckus.com, Joins The Dictator

I think it’s pretty safe to admit the best addition to the cast of Curb Your Enthusiasm has been JB Smoove and his Leon Black character. Now, it’s looking like producers are trying to see if they can replicate the success as they are teaming up Smoove with Sacha Baron Cohen for Cohen’s upcoming film, The Dictator. Let’s he hope he “Whites that shit up!”

The movie already has a slew of appearances from other people like John C. Reilly, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Fox, Ben Kingsley, and Anna Faris. But we’re hoping Smoove will provide the right amount of ruckus to the equation to make another successful Cohen film. Read the rest of this entry

Stella Will Host A Wet Hot American Summer 10 Year Anniversary Bash

Wow! It’s really been 10 years since the release of the cult classic comedy Wet Hot American Summer? I remember hearing about this movie when I was just a young blogger, wait what was the internet back then?

Though the movie only reached cult status, it was the first movie written by folks from the classic MTV sketch comedy show The State and Viva Variety! and starred a large portion of the cast including Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio, Kerri Kenny, and David Wain. It also showcased other comedic talent like Amy Poehler, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, H. Jon Benjamin (he voiced a can of vegetables), and Elizabeth Banks. And if you believe everything IMDB says… an extra named Michael Cera.

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the movie’s release, Ian Black, Wain, and Showalter, currently known as the comedy troupe Stella will host a 10th Anniversary bash at The Music Hall Of Williamsburg on July 26th. So it’s time to break out the short shorts and tank tops because we’re revisiting 1981. Read the rest of this entry

Conan Can’t Stop Trailer Is Out, Watch It Now

When the new Conan O’Brien documentary Conan Can’t Stop was screening at SXSW this past March, I was like “I’m There!” However, as with most best laid plans during that week in Austin, having to be in multiple places a the same time just doesn’t always work. So I missed the chance to screen the new documentary about the lat night talk show host’s well-documented departure from The Tonight Show and subsequent hitting of the road for the Legally Prohibited from Being on Television Tour. This Week In Comedy: Post Rapture Laughs

Well, we survived the Rapture (Macho Man saved us last minute), so it’s summer holiday time.

This morning a co-worker did the math for me, instead of the regular work week, he broke down the days/hours left until we were dismissed from our desks and hit the Memorial Day weekend of BBQ, parades, and of course, the kickoff to the summer season. Yup, it’s nothing but early release Fridays from now until it’s not polite to wear white again.

What this also means is we’re headed into the summer of mega movies and with some pretty hefty comedies coming out again. Bridesmaids is already proving that the R-Rated comedy is alive and well. And the promo caravan is at full steam for the sequel to the Citizen Cane of R-Rated comedies, The Hangover Part II. This summer we’ll also see releases of comedies Paul Blart Zoo Cop The Zookeeper, Bad Teacher, Horrible Bosses, The Change Up, and 30 Minutes Or Less. So prepare for a good summer of comedy. Things are already shaping up to be better than last summer. Read the rest of this entry
