Ron Burgundy inducted into the history of journalism museum… for a few months
We all knew he was “kind of a big deal” but now its official, Washington D.C.’s Newseum will host “Anchorman: The Exhibit.” Pretty unbelievable that an institution dedicated to the history of journalism will be featuring a fake news crew, but hey, I’m all for it! The exhibit isn’t just a promotion for Anchorman 2 either. Cathy Trost, the museum’s vice president of exhibits, says it will be a genuine educational exhibit stating, “The exhibit explores the reality behind the humor of Anchorman and tracks the rise of personality-driven news formats in the 1970s.”
Yes, it’s not 100% about the movie but it’s the kind of inspired marketing you see these days that further dive into the experience for fans allowing for merchants of cool to make new and exciting ways for them to get their cult fix. Think of it as advertising on the McDonald’s cup and toy in the Happy Meal of the modern era.
The exhibit will run from November 14th, 2013 to August 31st, 2014, so you have some time to get there but it wont last forever. Go check it out, after all remember, 60% of the time, it works, every time. Ok, that last sentence made no sense to those that didn’t see the first movie.
Just go to the exhibit, it’ll be awesome.
