Amy Poehler to bring Swedish comedy to NBC with her brother Greg
It’s been reported that Amy Poehler and her brother Greg have sold NBC the rights to a new comedy series, Welcome to Sweden. The show was originally commissioned by Sweden’s TV4 as its first English language series, but now it will be aired in two continents. Amy is the executive producer of the project along with Greg, who is also the show’s creator and star, making his acting debut.
Welcome to Sweden is based on Greg Poehler’s own experiences, chronicling the life of a New York accountant who falls for a Swedish woman (played by Josephine Bornebusch) and follows her to Sweden. The show will be filmed in Stockholm, New York and Los Angeles, and features cameos from Greg’s sister, as well as Will Ferrell, Amy’s Parks and Recreation cast-mate Aubrey Plaza and, somehow, Gene Simmons. No official air date has been set by NBC yet.
