Bill Cosby announces first televised stand-up special in 30 years
Batten down the hatches and all other comics take notice, for the master is returning.
Today, at the age of 75 Bill Cosby announced that his televised stand-up comedy special Far From Finished will debut on Comedy Central on November 24th. This is Cosby’s first televised special in thirty years. Thirty years! Though it’s been a while, Cosby has remained busy with books, TV shows, touring, and late night appearances, but the chance for the younger generation to see the master at work, this will be required viewing.
Far From Finished was directed by Robert Townsend and compiled from material Cosby performed at the Cerritos PAC earlier this summer. When he was asked for a quote as to why to return to stand-up now, Cosby simply replied, “Because… funny is funny.”
Cosby’s last special, Bill Cosby Himself aired three decades ago and still holds up to this day as one of the comedian’s landmark albums (and there are many).
