The first-ever Brooklyn Comedy Festival is right around the corner, and looks to have an awesome line up of events. The Laugh Button is a proud sponsor of the festival, which runs from Monday, August 19th through the Saturday the 24th at multiple venues around Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The fest will showcase both veterans and rising comics in nearly every category, from sketch and to stand-up to improv. Not to mention, there will be several after-parties going on throughout Williamsburg that will be hosted by local and national sponsors.
Chris Nester, the festival founder and Brooklyn based comic, spoke about the festival, “Brooklyn comedy is setting the precedent for the rest of the world right now.” Nester says, “We needed a festival that celebrates our scene and gives every level of performer a chance to shine on our stages.”
The festival kicks off Monday August 19th with a BKCF version of the monthly comedy show: Game Night hosted by Kyle Ayers and Will Winner. The BKCF week will also include Bobby Henline & Joe Kashnow from the award-winning documentary “Comedy Warriors: Healing Through Humor,” Special editions of Comedy as a Second Language, Comedy at the Grocery, and a Late Night Writers Panel Happy Hour. That doesn’t include the tons of comics preforming throughout the week as well. I suppose the best way to put it is just how BKCF says it “We’re excited. You should be too. Lets party.” For more information and a full schedule check out their website.
