The Comedy Awards Will Return To Comedy Central

by Matt on November 10, 2011

The second year for The Comedy Awards is happening. Deadline reports that producer Don Mischer will once again bring the awards ceremony back this Spring.

There’s a slight difference this time around as the awards will air on just Comedy Central as opposed to across all of Viacom’s brands (Spike, TV Land, Nick At Nite) this should help with the ratings as there’s only one place people will be able to check them out.

The awards will be taped at Hammerstein Ballroom on April 28th and air later on May 6th. Though there’s no plans for nominees to be announced until early 2012, they will once again be chosen by a board of directors that last year included heavy hitters like Billy Crystal, Jon Stewart, Chris Rock, Adam McKay, Seth MacFarlane, and Whoopi Goldberg. Winners are chosen by an invitation-only voting body comprised of 1500 working members from the comedy community including writers, producers, performers and directors. Visit their website for more details.

If you didn’t get the chance to catch the awards last year, here’s our recap of the show.
