Comedy Bang! Bang! is ending it’s live show run after 10 years
A legendary stand-up comedy institution, Comedy Bang! Bang! is ending it’s run after 10 years. Brainchild Scott Aukerman broke the news today over a series of Tweets. The last live show will be on December 4th as a benefit for the LA Food Bank. As of right now, this will have no effect on the podcast or TV show.
Aukerman started the weekly show as Comedy Death Ray for the low $5 ticket and it quickly became the must-attend event in the city. Allowing the stage for many comedians to work out new material and fans clamored for it. The show moved to UCB Theatre a while later and was re-named Comedy Bang! Bang! in 2010. It also transformed itself into a long-running podcast and IFC TV show of the same name with Reggie Watts as the co-host.
The final show will be called “Comedy Bang Bang Nativity Pageant” and include the likes of Zach Galifianakis, Aziz Ansari, Patton Oswalt, Bob Odenkirk, David Cross, Kristen Schaal, Chris Hardwick, Thomas Lennon, Paul F. Tompkins, Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, Tim Heidecker, Doug Benson, Anthony Jeselnik, Chelsea Peretti, Neil Hamburger, Garfunkel & Oates, Matt Besser, Todd Glass, Jimmy Pardo and Aukerman. That’s a lot of people, hopefully there’s an intermission.
Tickets for the final show can be picked up here. Hurry up! We’re imagining this is selling out as we type this.
This will also be the last @ComedyBangBang: Standup show for the near future. After 10 years, I am retiring! (From producing the live show).
