Dane Cook, Tom Green, and Bob Sagat & More Performing at The Laugh Factory Benefit for Mike MacDonald
Laughter may be the best medicine, but when you’re in need of an organ transplant, a more serious side-splitter is required. Comedian Mike MacDonald was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in March of 2011, and due to complications is in urgent need of a new liver. In MacDonald’s words, “devastating news. I was told the recent infection was so severe I couldn’t wait two years for a liver transplant.”
After announcing on his Facebook page that he would need to take a hiatus from his comedy career to rest up and bide his time for the life saving surgery, there was an overwhelming outpouring of support and several fundraisers have already been organized. “I was hoping a few people would respond,” says MacDonald, “but I had no idea that this would happen in my wildest dreams.” Jamie Masada, owner of legendary California venue The Laugh Factory, along with many prominent members of the comedy community put together a special fundraiser to help raise money for MacDonald’s surgery. The epic lineup including Dave Foley, Tom Green, Kevin Nealon, Harland Williams, Bobby Slayton, Paul Rodriguez, Dom Irrera, Dane Cook, Chris D’Elia, Bob Sagat and Ian Edwards, “Laugh & Liver” is sure to provide some comic relief to the ailing comedian.
The show is Wednesday, June 20th at 8pm at the Laugh Factory Los Angeles, and tickets are available at www.laughfactory.com. If you aren’t in the LA area and want to help Mike out, you can visit a donation page set up by friends to raise money.
