  • Denis Leary Says “Kiss My Ass” This Independence Day

Denis Leary has something he wants to say this Independence Day. So much in fact that he and his band The Enablers decided to record a new single tribute to telling others off. If you don’t like the result, well, “Kiss His Ass.”

Leary, The Enablers, and an all-female Rehab Horns put together this swinging tribute to all things that he just doesn’t care about. “The National Anthem is a truly great song,” he explains. “But it’s really really hard to sing and it’s not that funny. I wanted to create an alternative anthem that makes you tap your feet and has the word ‘ass’ in the title.”

Throughout his career, Leary’s burned through a catalog of kiss-off songs that started with “Asshole,” continued with “At The Rehab,” “FU,” and “Douchebag.” We can now add, this to the list. Caring? Sharing? Volunteering? Leary wants none of it because he’d rather be at home on the sofa playing Wii.

Leary shot a video for the track, which will premiere exclusively on FunnyOrDie.com next Monday, July 2nd. The same day the track is available for purchase on iTunes. But he did post a tweet with a behind-the-scenes image from the shoot.

In the meantime, an exclusive stream of the song is available at Huffington Post.
