  • Free MTV Comedy Showcases End Their Run At The Studio At Webster Hall

And it was a night of fun, host Al Jackson introduced some of the funniest up-and-coming comedians as they all took the stage. College Humor’s Streeter Seidell, Kevin Barnett, Joe Mande, and Chris Gethard delivered strong sets as the audience watched on in smiles.

These free, (sorta)monthly MTV Comedy Showcases have been going on at The Studio at Webster Hall for about a year. But last night, around 9:45 and just before the show kicked off, event organizer Evan Shames took to the stage to let the crowd know he was moving to the West Coast and this would be the last of the events. Shames said it was a bittersweet moment for him, wrapping up a year of these showcases he enjoyed putting on.

Hopefully someone else will feel the passion that Shames had for the night and picks up where Shames left off. It’s always fun to put on comedy showcases in rock venues, and it would be a little upsetting if less of these type of events were in existence.
