Opie and Jim, will officially carry on without Anthony.
News broke late last week via Twitter that Gregg “Opie” Hughes and comedian Jim Norton have renewed contracts to continue their weekday morning show on SiriusXM.
When longtime friend/co-host Anthony Cumia was fired from the show this summer, the future of the show was left uncertain, would Hughes walk at the end of his contract this fall and re-team with Cumia somewhere else, or was it officially the end of an era?
The signing of this new contract pretty much solidifies that the separation between the radio partners of nearly 20 years is official. Opie will continue with Norton and Cumia’s web show/podcast is fully operational (like the death star) at anthonycumia.com.
Details of the duo’s new deal with SiriusXM are not fully public, but its been implied there’s a modest raise for both DJs with Norton not yet making “Anthony Cumia Money.” Hughes stated that he and Norton’s show will air Monday-Thursday, 7-10:30 am, and occasionally on Fridays. Ron Bennington from the Ron & Fez Show which moved off O&A’s channel a few months back, will host a show on Fridays when they are not on the air.
We have re-signed not resigned from @SIRIUSXM
