CBC Punchline, Canada’s online comedy channel who’s joined up with this year’s Just For Laughs Festival for the 2015 edition of Beyond The Box: Playing It Short. It’s a pitch program for web series creators. Beyond The Box: Playing It Short offers comedy creators a one-of-a-kind opportunity to get in front of online industry execs from the major digital platforms. CBC Punchline will be helping five finalists get to the pitch event which takes place Saturday July 25 during ComedyPRO, which is the industry section of the annual Montreal Just For Laughs Festival. CBC Punchline will also award the winner of the pitch with a free trip to the 2016 Just For Laughs Festival and Just For Laughs ComedyPRO conference.Here’s what you need to know to qualify.
The projects submitted must be digital-first shows with episode lengths no greater than 15 minutes. Pitches can include scripted, animated, factual, variety and sketch, but must be short-form series ideas aimed at digital video platforms. The Deadline for submissions is May 8 at midnight pacific time.
“Just For Laughs ComedyPRO is the premier place to pitch digital-first decision-makers,” said ComedyPRO’s Director, Paul Ronca. “Our partnership with a leading Canadian platform such as CBC Punchline allows us to broaden our offering to web series creators.” The call for submissions to Beyond the Box: Playing It Short is open to international applicants ages 18 and over.
