The Logan Whitehurst Memorial Awards for Excellence in Comedy Music, aka The Logan Awards, in association with TheFunny Music Project, aka The FuMP, announces the winners for the sixth annual comedy music awards. The award ceremony was held at Marscon, at the Hilton Minneapolis/St Paul Mall of America in Bloomington, MN the weekend of March 4-6.
The Logan Awardsare held every year to showcase the very best in comedy music, presented in three categories: Outstanding Original Comedy Song, Outstanding Parody Song, and Outstanding Comedy Music Video. Each year, the awards committee is run by a new chairperson, who selects two groups of jurors (three currently active comedy musicians and three from comedy music fandom) to select the finalists from the list of open nominees suggested by fans of comedy music. This year, Angela Brett was the chairperson, and she selected three fan jurors and three comedy musician jurors to help select the finalists. As with every year, however, any ties would be settled by the awards’ permanent Judge, the legendary radio DJ Dr. Demento. This year’s ceremony featured live performances from the majority of the acts nominated, though in a sense of sheer irony, none of the winners were in attendance to accept their award.
Here are the Winners for this year’s awards:
Outstanding Original Comedy Song:
Steve Goodie “I Dropped My Phone in the Toilet”
Outstanding Parody Song:
Carla Ulbrich “Cheek to Cheek”
Outstanding Comedy Music Video:
They Might Be Giants “All The Lazy Boyfriends”
