Stand-up comedian and Daily Show correspondent Michelle Wolf will tape her first special for HBO this summer, the network just announced.
A former writer for Late Night with Seth Meyers and the Academy Awards, Wolf is an incredible performer, whip-smart and electric to watch onstage, which will surely translate onto the screen.
HBO exec Nina Rosenstein express excitement about the project, saying “Michelle is one of the most inspired comics working today. She is smart, sharp and fiercely funny. We couldn’t be more excited to present her first stand-up special to our audience.”
Countered Wolf: “What can I say, it’s HBO, it’s a dream. I’m mostly just trying not to get hit by a bus before I tape.”
The hour will be directed by Neal Brennan, co-creator of Chappelle’s Show and an accomplished comic in his own right, who recently released the Netflix comedy special 3 Mics.
Wolf will tape the as-yet-untitled special on August 12th at New York City’s Skirball Center, with tickets on sale soon.
