Dane Cook’s New Movie Will Premiere At SXSW
I thought Dane Cook gave up the whole acting thing? Anyway, he’s in a new movie called Detention which stars Dane-o as the principal of Grizzly Lake High School.
The film seems kinda teen indie comedy mixed with a modernized version of Scream-esque slasher flick. And like it’s title, there’s ya know, detention that needs to be served, so maybe it’s part Breakfast Club as well?
The film is set to premiere at SXSW with screenings on March 13, March 15, March 16 and March 18 during the film portion of the festival. There’s even a Facebook page you can “like” to get more updates.

I’m sure today will be full of commentary about last night’s Academy Awards show. Though I’m not nearly qualified to comment on dresses worn by the actresses, I will ask this one question that many in the comedy community asked previously…why doesn’t the Academy recognize funny? They recognize all other achievements in film, drama, foreign, animated, and shorts. But why is it that when it comes to comedy time and time again people aren’t rewarded for their humorous moments in film?
