Saturday Night Live eying two Second City alums as new cast members
Well, this news was bound to come, and now it’s here.
Since Saturday Night Live had a few cast departures this last few months it’s no surprise Lorne Michaels and co. are out there looking for new talent to feature on the 38th season.
Reports are popping up that NBC is about to lock in deals for a pair of new featured players – Aidy Bryant and Tim Robinson.
Bryant comes from Second City and has connections to Vanessa Bayer as the two were in a sketch comedy group out of Chicago’s Annoynance Theatre. Robinson is also a Second City alum whose appeared in a handful of short films, BBC’s Nice Day For A Welsh Wedding and has a role in a mideason sitcom Friend Me which stars Christopher Mintz-Plasse.
The official deal should be locked in by the season 38 premiere, hosted by Seth MacFarlane, on September 15th.
We hope the addition of this duo to the featured ranks hopefully bumps at least Taran Killam and Bayer up to cast regulars.
UPDATE: NBC officially announced Bryant and Robinson’s hiring as well as a 3rd Second City Alum, Cecily Strong.
