  • SXSW Is Searching For Comedy Talent In LA

All comedy fans in the Los Angeles area might want to clear their schedules for the next few days.

Starting this Sunday, a handful of comedy clubs in LA will begin hosting showcases in conjunction with the SXSW Festival. The showcases are intended to show off some of the best comedians in the area as the festival is on the search for some new talent and a possible place on the comedy roster for the 2012 festival which is held in March.

We’ve been attendees of the SXSW festival for at least the past decade and we got the chance to watch their comedy program develop from a simple idea into something incredibly top notch for the comedy community. We expect 2012 to be no different. They’ve played host to podcasts like The Nerdist and WTF? as well as hosted John Oliver’s Stand-Up NY in addition to great shows by anyone you can image in the world of modern comedy that would make this news post too large if I were to list them all.

So rather than do that, here are the details on the LA dates you need to know.

Sun 9.18 10:00pm – The Comedy Store Hollywood
    Mon 9.19 4:30pm – UCB (free show)
Mon 9.19 8:00pm – Nerdist Theater at Meltdown Comics (host Pete Holmes)
    Tues 9.20 7:00pm – Improv
    Tues 9.20 10:00pm – Hollywood Laugh Factory
