Tig Notaro reveals she has cancer
Awe man! F*ck cancer.
Friday night comedian Tig Notaro took the stage for her show “Tig And Friends” at the Largo in Los Angeles. It’s one of the final shows Notaro is putting on in LA before moving to NYC to work on Amy Schumer’s new TV show.
Ed Helms brought Tig onto the stage as she opened the night up with “Thank you, thank you, I have cancer, thank you, I have cancer, really, thank you.” She learned earlier in the week that she had breast cancer in both breasts adding onto a string of bad events that plagued her the last 3 months including pneumonia, a bacterial infection in her digestive tract that hospitalized her causing her to lose 30 pounds (she’s already tiny), into the accidental death of her mother, followed by a break up with her girlfriend. Now cancer? Ugh!
Notaro went over the events in detail receiving a standing ovation at the end of her set. The show shifted to comedians Bill Burr and special guest Louis C.K. making for what we can only speculate was a pretty incredible night of comedy. A first-hand account of the night is detailed here and worth the read.
Tig… best wishes during this difficult time and a speedy recovery.
