Watch Cookie Monster Audition For Saturday Night Live

So this is happening…our favorite blue, cookie-eating, childhood monster puppet has kicked off an online viral campaign to be the next host of Saturday Night Live.
To help sell the campaign Cookie Monster taped a mock episode of the show including a parody of “MacGruber” (aka “Macarooner”), a “Weekend Update” spoof and even an appearance as the musical guest. How is this all topped off a Facebook group asking for online support.
In this day and age, this might actually work. Hell, we’ve seen online campaigns like this work in the past with SNL. Betty White’s appearance was one of the highlights of last year’s season and probably the most buzzed about because of the Facebook campaign launched to make it happen. But the question remains, could this actually happen with Cookie Monster or would Lorne Michaels have to draw the line on puppets?
We’re going to throw our vote for “yes,” but under one big condition. That being the SNL writers go for it and try to get the puppet to say language that’s not safe during the normal Sesame Street broadcast. It could be a lotta fun laughing at Cookie Monster as he goes on some inappropriate rants meant for just adult eyes and ears.
But what do you think? Good idea or bad idea?
