Last week while in Austin for SXSW we got the chance to catch the John Oliver New York Stand-Up Showcase. The night kicked off with a live Nerdist podcast then the line formed around the corner and people lined up to see John Oliver host a night of great comedy delivered by Kumail Nanjiani, Brendon Walsh, Al Madrigal, and Pete Holmes.

Between the 8pm and 10:30pm show (which featured a drop in set by Anthony Jeselnik), Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick came out and cut/fed everyone a fan-made cake. Cake and comedy…pretty much the best combination ever.

Oh and we took a walk down the line outside the showcase just to see how damn long the thing was.
