Comedy Central has found its Roastmaster for the upcoming roast of Rob Lowe and it’s a guy that knows Lowe really well, we’re talking about David Spade. Spade and Lowe go way back to the days of when the two both starred in the film Tommy Boy and Lowe hosted some episodes of Saturday Night Live. There’s also a pretty famous story that Spade had a few physical fights with Chris Farley on set of Tommy Boy over the friendship of Rob Lowe.
“Comedy Central asked a bunch of ugly guys to make fun of a good looking guy. I said yes right away. Then I realized I wasn’t the good looking guy,” said Spade.
In addition to the announcement that Spade was going to oversee the Roast of Lowe, the network also announced the taping details of the show. As somewhat ritual, the roast will tape in advance (August 27th) and air on Labor Day weekend, 10pm to be specific. The dais is next to be announced and we’re expecting some heavy hitters.
