  • My Favorite Sketch: A Bit of Fry & Laurie “Scumbag”

Before becoming Dr. House, Hugh Laurie was part of a beloved comedy act with Stephen Fry. One of the British duo’s most well-known projects was the sketch show A Bit Of Fry & Laurie, which aired from 1989 to 1995. The series showcased Britain’s odd sense of humor and love of wordplay, while the two also made a point to regularly break the fourth wall with its audience. One sketch that is a prime example of all those traits is the one seen above. In this particular sketch, Fry and Laurie play interrogators who prove that (as Fry’s character states) “we may be stupid, but we’re not clever.” Fun fact, the infant who the two further interrogate at the end is actually Laurie’s son Charlie.
