Simeon Goodson is the best comedian you’ve never heard of. His work was mentioned in the A-Sides blog on The Huffington Post where it was said that he, “should be a household name in comedy.” Brooklyn Magazine lauded him as one of the, “50 Funniest People in Brooklyn.” While the praise has been rolling in recently, Goodson is by no means an overnight success. In 2004, he waited tables at a local restaurant during the day and visited bars at night. It was there that he was convinced to pursue a career in stand-up.
Since then, he has been actively performing throughout the New York comedy scene at comedy clubs, bars, and alternative venues. Outside of performing stand up at local bars, he has also performed at world famous venues such as Carolines on Broadway and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Goodson also traveled across the country with the “Comedy’s Best Kept Secret Tour,” and he performed as an opener for Michael Che. Most recently, he was the opening act on the Hannibal Burress “Comedy Camisado” tour.
He was also part of the web series “D Lemon in the Morning” which follows a 4th place morning radio crew as they aspire to reach number 1.
Ending in June, Goodson also performed a string of one man shows called “7 Hennys,” which soon gained a cult following among casual fans and veteran comedians. During those shows, his casual observations and interactions had audiences doubled over. From twitter to his stand up shows, Simeon Goodson offers his unique perspective on everyday thoughts and current events. His Twitter shows his take on many relevant topics and it truly showcases his ability to make any subject funny.
Many of these observations will be combined to form Goodson’s debut album titled “Manifesto.” This album features his thoughts on topics from Brooklyn to the Westboro Baptist Church and everything in between. On his website, Simeon provides six alternative, and subsequently rejected, album pitches. Each pitch outdoes the one before it with its hilarious take on negative stereotypes and the tastes of the consumer. Simeon Goodson’s new stand-up album Manifesto will be released on August 1st. Be sure to pick it up.
