  • Abby Elliott lands a role on “How I Met Your Mother”

Need more proof Abby Elliott has left Saturday Night Live? Well this should do it…

Not long after it was first revealed she was leaving SNL, The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Elliott has landed a recurring role on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother. Elliott will reportedly play Janeane, a “crazy” girl who catches the eye of one of the characters. Though she won’t appear on the show until the second half of the season in 2013, Elliott will reportedly appear in multiple episodes in what is being described as an “arc.”

It’s unknown how/if her new gig the CBS hit sitcom will affect her role in FOX’s pilot Ben Fox Is My Manny, which she reportedly scored the lead in. Regardless, it looks like Elliott’s career after SNL is off to a good start.

A New Louis C.K. Sitcom In The Works For CBS

Network TV is now taking interest in Louis C.K. as he, along with former Seinfeld writer—late night host Spike Feresten are putting together a half-hour sitcom for CBS. The network has green-lit a currently untitled sitcom whose premise is about a group of creative twentysomethings trying to make it in the world. The pair has writing history together from Saturday Night Live and The Dana Carvey Show.

CBS isn’t the first network I’d think of when one hears “twentysomethings” and Louis’ name but as they tend to skew toward older demographics and broader sitcoms. But the success of How I Met Your Mother does show they can bring in cooler, younger people. It’s also wise for Louis as he’d be a big/different player on the network pretty much guaranteeing the eyeballs as opposed to the mess that are the NBC’s comedy ratings and ABC who already has very strong young comedies in Happy Endings and Modern Family. CBS could prove wise for the comedian, where he can jump to a broader audience for his booming profile and along with Feresten (who wrote the Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld) still write quirky comedy. And for those that want the comedian’s edgier stuff, there’s still the FX show for that.

This January, Rob Schneider Is… A Gringo?

CBS recently unveiled the promo footage for their new mid-season sitcom starring Rob Schneider. ¡ROB! will premiere on Thursday January, 12th and take the place of Rules of Engagement, debuting right after The Big Bang Theory. I can’t say I’m eager to watch it, but Claudia Bassols, who plays “Maggie” on the show does offer hope with her attractiveness…and at least Cheech is in it. Read the rest of this entry
