Review: The Beards Of Comedy “Cardio Mix”

The Beards of Comedy are doin’ it on their latest album, Cardio Mix. Andy Sandford, Joe Zimmerman, T.J. Young, and Dave Stone bring a wide variety of often dark humor to the table. I’ll first explain that the album is not necessarily something you should listen to during a workout. It’s more like something you should listen to before you work out because the four Atlanta-bred bearded men may give you some ideas…like just eat instead. You will probably have more fun that way, anyway.

Dave Stone suggests you try eating a whole chicken. “You don’t get this physique without taking a few chances,” he claims. Nonetheless, if I said eating jokes are the highlight of this album, I’d be lying to you. The album is hilarious all the way through, which is probably why they decided to call it Cardio Mix. Laughing burns calories, right? Read the rest of this entry

Beards Of Comedy break a sweat for joke telling

Everyone loves to get a good workout before getting down to action, and comedy is no different. The Beards Of Comedy have a very strict regimen to get limber before the joke telling and they filmed their workout in an effort to help others.

Nice instructional vid there guys, and you get an A+ for dropping in a little M83 tune to set the mood. The Beard’s new album, Cardio Mix is in stores now. Break a sweat and buy it. Read the rest of this entry

Review: Pete Holmes “Impregnated With Wonder”

    Holy shit!

Fasten your seatbelts because Pete Holmes is taking us for a wild ride! You can tell just by the album art alone that we’re trekking through Holmes’ imaginarium that if we like it half as much as he, we might in fact, shit our pants.

Holmes’ first stand-up album is the comedy equivalent of a hurricane – blustering into the room, blowing us around us for a period of time, then blasting out as we’re left to sift through the wreckage wondering exactly what just happened. From the moment Wonder begins and without even having a visual, you can tell Holmes is all smiles, with his cherub-like “fat Val Kilmer” looks. Read the rest of this entry

Review: Mo Mandel “The M Word”

“Every vagina should be like a bank account,” Mo Mandel asserts. Prolific? Revolutionary? Offensive? I don’t know, but it’s definitely provocative. Correct me if I’m wrong, but if you’re a feminist or a proud female, you might be angry about the previous statement right now. However, open your mind and listen to Mo Mandel’s latest album, The M Word because it’s a delightful tangent from political correctness. Something we all need from time to time. Especially as we approach the holidays with all the ham dinners and annoying relatives.

Mo comes out to start the album fired up as he yells “jokey time!” and invokes a sort of childish excitement into the listener. He then goes on to discuss the “two-drink minimum” rule at comedy clubs, and later mentions the difficulties of being Jewish in Germany; it’s expensive. Read the rest of this entry

Check Out A Clip From Rachel Feinstein’s New Album, “Thug Tears”

On Tuesday, November 29th ice cold Rhoda herself, Rachel Feinstein will release her new CD, Thug Tears. It’s Feinstein’s first stand-up album and we’re psyched that the public will be able to hear Rachel lay down some of her stone cold impressions and ice cold mockery (I went for that double cold metaphor there). You can preview a clip from Thug Tears right now by checking out the eCard below.

Listen To Beards Of Comedy’s “Cardio Mix” Now!

The winter is great for a variety of reasons. But one tradition I’ve partaken in the last few years is Beard Month. Technically, its supposed to be the month of December when I just abandon all razors and just let my face get wooly and terrific (ladies…). Though I technically start this tradition at the sign of first leaf falling off the tree in November. It’s because of this tradition I find it entirely appropriate that the Beards Of Comedy’s new stand-up album, Cardio Mix will be released during this sacred time for men. Read the rest of this entry

Pete Holmes Got Impregnated With Wonder, Give A Listen

I was tremendously excited to learn Pete Holmes is releasing his first ever stand-up comedy album, Impregnated With Wonder. Why you ask? Well that’s a great question, that’s because I got the chance to see Holmes a few times and the man is friggin’ hilarious! He also strikes me as just a naturally funny man, as in he’d probably make you laugh just as hard as you sat at a table talking to him as he would delivering an hour’s worth of stand-up.

Impregnated With Wonder will be released next week, November 16th and you need to do yourself a favor and listen to this audio clip which will unlock the mystery as to why his album is titled what it is. Read the rest of this entry
