  • Beverly Hills Cop could be coming to the small screen

We might get ourselves a TV version of the legendary Eddie Murphy comedies. Word on the street is that Sony Pictures and Murphy are shopping around a small screen version of Beverly Hills Cop.

The show is being described as an hour-long crime procedural with comic elements in which Murphy will Executive Produce with Shawn Ryan.

No other details are currently known but in a November 2011 interview with Rolling Stone, Murphy briefly mentioned that he’d be more interested in a TV show of the Cop series since none of the scripts for a 4th movie appealed to him. He also stated that if there were to be a television version of the series it would focus on the son of Axel Foley with him reprising the original role of papa Axel a few times throughout the series.

UPDATE: The pilot has been picked up by CBS.

UPDATE: Kevin Hart could be the actor/comedian they select to play Axel Foley’s son.

Update: Nope it’s Brandon T. Jackson
