  • IFC Greenlights Marc Maron TV Show

The IFC upfronts were tonight and though it’s been rumored for a while now, the network confirmed that Marc Maron’s new TV show will air in 2013.

Maron (working title) explores a fictionalized version of Marc’s life, his relationships, and his career, including his incredibly popular WTF podcast, which features conversations Marc conducts with celebrities and fellow comedians. Neurosis intact, Maron is uniquely fascinating, absolutely compelling and brutally funny. [IFC]

When news broke that a pilot was shot back in June 2011, Ed Asner was attached to play Marc’s father on the series and Ken Jeong as a guest star. The pilot was also screened in September at the NY Film Festival.

We heard a rumor that Asner would not be in the series and the pilot is being re-shot. This rumor was neither confirmed nor denied by IFC’s press release so we’ll have to wait to find out if this ends up becoming true or not.

The show is produced by FOX Television and Apostle and is directed by Academy Award winner Luke Matheny. The show’s executive producers include Maron, Denis Leary, Jim Serpico, Oivia Wingate, and Duncan Birmingham, who also serves as the series’ writer.
