One-half of former Comedy Central sketch show Key and Peele, Keegan-Michael Key, visited The Late Show to chat with Stephen Colbert — and so did Luther, former President Obama’s official “anger translator.” Based on a hit Key and Peele sketch, the character of Luther has, over the years, taken on a life of its own — Obama even brought him up to express some of the sentiments he couldn’t appropriately relay during the 2015 White House Correspondents Dinner.
Now that Obama’s out of office and Key and Peele is off the air, we haven’t seen much of Luther, but luckily he made a brief appearance last night, coming out of “retirement” to deliver a wild-eyed tirade that starts: “Come on, people! Trump-care? More like Trump-don’t-care!” and just gets better from there.
On Colbert’s couch, Key also talked about his acting background — specifically, the fact that he’s a classically trained actor, something you might notice while watching his new Netflix show, Friends From College.
