The time is finally upon us to select our favorite comedy albums and specials of the year. 2015 saw an unbelievable amount of content in both forms with some of said specials being converted into albums as well. With streaming at an all-time high and the path most likely to be taken heading into the future, the decline of traditional and physical “album only” seems to be eminent. The editors and contributors of The Laugh Button have compiled their favorites from both points of delivery and we now present you our Top 20 comedy albums and specials of 2015 in two parts.
20. Iliza Shlesinger – Freezing Hot (Netflix)
Iliza Shlesinger’s second special, Freezing Hot, is the first on our list and also happens to be one of the first to come out in 2015. Shlesinger applied her fresh, laugh-out-loud perspective to the universal struggles between men and women in Freezing Hot. We are also introduced to the “Party Goblin”, you know, the one that hangs out with you after you’ve had a few drinks. She also explains how Pinterest is porn for white women. Shlesinger hit the road quite extensively throughout the year in support as well. 2015 also saw her land a late night spot on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon just before the release. We also witnessed her, on two occasions, take part in the Goddamn Comedy Jam both in L.A. as well as New York City while she was in town for the New York Comedy Festival this year. And you can check out her appearance on our podcast while down at SXSW.
