In a time when everyone is scrambling to look for some new programming ready to go, TBS is hitting us with a new idea for a virtual game show. A comedy competition titled Tournament of Laughter and hosted by Jason Sudeikis.
The game is pretty self explanatory, as it finds comics going head to head over the course of the seven episode run. And as for the comics, TBS is busting out the big guns with some of the most popular names in comedy. Names include Jeff Ross, Margaret Cho, Gilbert Gottfried, Judah Friedlander, Michael Rapaport, Jim Norton, Fortune Feimster, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Natasha Leggero, Cameron Esposito, Godfrey, The Sklar Brothers, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Josh Wolf, Clayton English, Yamaneika Saunders, Gina Yashere, Tim Dillon, Moshe Kasher, Jessica Kirson, Paul Rodriguez, Sarah Tiana, Matteo Lane, Beth Stelling, Vladimir Caamano, Ian Edwards, Aida Rodriguez, Megan Gailey, Preacher Lawson, Piff The Magic Dragon, among others.
As standard, audiences will be able to vote for based on videos submitted by the performers. A celebrity panel will be judging the final night to crown the winner. Additionally, a charitable donation will also be made to the United Nations Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and Black Lives Matter.
“We may be without some of our favorite sports right now but we can still partake in some fierce rivalries” said Brett Weitz, general manager of TNT, TBS, and truTV, in a statement. “These comics promise to bring the funny each week, but the audience will get to decide who gets the last laugh.”
Tournament of Laughter debuts on June 21st at 10 PM ET.
