The Academy Awards still don’t give a hoot about comedy

January 10, 2013      Matt Kleinschmidt      Awards, Movies

This morning the nominations for the Academy Awards were announced. Just in case you were wondering, the Academy still doesn’t seem to give a sh*t about anything comedy. If you were to make the argument that Silver Linings Playbook or Django Unchained were kinda sorta comedies then things get somewhat better. But other than a nusic nom for Seth MacFarlane and the movie Ted, awriting nom for Moonrise Kingdom, and short film nom for The Simpsons, comedy was completely shut out of the game. Was it a particularly bad year for comedy movies? Or is it just more of the same with The Academy ignoring comedy acting?
