Adam Carolla takes down Ricky Gervais for the podcast world record
May 20, 2011 Matt Kleinschmidt Adam Carolla, News, Ricky Gervais
As an avid listener of the Adam Carolla Podcast, we’ve known for the last few weeks he’s been trying to break the Guinness World Record for the most downloaded podcast ever. A title that, at the time was being held by Ricky Gervais. Unable to accept that a British man held a record that so obviously should been held by a Yankee (we’d liken it to when the Aussies win The America’s Cup), Carolla called upon his fans to turn their friends onto the show, setting up their iTunes to download the show for them, and generally spread the gospel of what he had going on.
The other night he stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to make an announcement. Since he came out dressed like Uncle Sam, it was a pretty good indication that the news was going to be good and the record was coming home to us here in the States. Rather than a representative from Guinness come out to give the award, they went for the classier move of a woman in a bikini.
If you haven’t checked out Carolla’s show yet, what are you waiting for? sign up on iTunes, it’s a fun hour and a half of him railing on just about anything from LA Cops giving out what he calls, “chicken shit tickets” to having thought-provoking conversations with comedians, celebrities, and other like-mined web folk. There’s also a premium video stream compliments of UStream.
