The Sandman is staying with Netflix.
Today, it was announced that Adam Sandler has signed up for 4 more movies with the streaming giant, bringing the total count up to 12 overall films. Add into that all of his theatrical releases they stream, as well as films like The Meyorwitz Stories, Uncut Gems, an upcoming animated feature, and his stand up specials and Adam Sandler has basically taken over the platform.
“Whether you know him as Sandman, the Water Boy, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Nick Spitz or simply Adam, one thing is clear: our members can’t get enough of him,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer in a statement today. “They love his stories and his humor, as we saw with Murder Mystery. So I could not be more excited to extend our partnership with Adam and the Happy Madison team and deliver more laughs around the world.”
Last year, Murder Mystery was said to have had 30.9 million households stream the film in the first 72 hours, a record for them. So even if you don’t like him, it does prove that there are people out there that do.
