Sometimes the stars align in such a perfect way that somewhere, somehow, faith in the comedy gods is restored and the world spins a bit better. If you aren’t up to date on Saturday Night Live’s Celebrity Jeopardy sketch, 1) where have you been living for the last 20 years or so and 2) you have to some catching up to do.
In the iconic SNL sketch, Norm Macdonald portrays Burt Reynolds, dons a big yellow hat, berates host Alex Trebek (portrayed by Will Ferrell), and changes his name to Turd Ferguson. Therefore solidifying the name into the annals of SNL and pop culture history.
All these years later, a contestant on the show decided to use Turd Ferguson in her answer and trick the real Alex Trebek into saying the name. Bringing all things full circle.
Life… sometimes it’s grand. Now someone get cracking on writing the Love Ballad of Turd Ferguson so it can get a proper Oscar nomination.
