In its third wave of pilots, Amazon has decided to move forward with comedy series Red Oaks. According to Deadline, Amazon has ordered Red Oaks and drama Hand of God to series. Five pilots were ordered for this season, which were shot and made available for viewing on their website. Amazon asks for viewer feedback which helps determine which will go forward.
Red Oaks, executive produced by Steve Soderbergh, is a coming-of-age comedy about David Myers, an assistant tennis pro at the Red Oaks Country Club in suburban New Jersey in 1985. David is played by Craig Roberts (Submarine), with Richard Kind, Paul Reiser, Jennifer Grey, filling out supporting roles.
In addition, Amazon will not be going forward with Jay Chandrasekhar’s Really, and seems to be on the fence about one of their other comedy pilot The Cosmopolitans. Amazon is still considering the series and has ordered additional scripts.
