Here’s some more great news. In an age where it’s not uncommon to read that the film that you were most looking forward to seeing will be moving to the now-over crowded 2021 season, Amazon has swooped in and saved another one, this time from Paramont. The one that they have saved this time? Coming 2 America, for a deal worth roughly $125 million dollars.
Yes, the Eddie Murphy starring sequel to 1987’s Coming To America will now be available on Amazon Prime starting on December 18th. And joining Murphy for the film is basically the entire original company that includes John Amos, Arsenio Hall, Shari Headley, James Earl Jones, and Louie Anderson. Joining the cast is Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, and Wesley Snipes, among many others.
The film has also reunited Murphy with screenwriters David Sheffield and Barry W. Blaustein, adding into the mix Kenya Barris. And Craig Brewer, who directed Murphy in Dolemite is My Name last year, is onboard as director here as well. And with all these names attached, December 18th can’t come soon enough!
