Anthony Cumia’s Twitter account suspended, allegedly following a fight with an A.V. Club writer

What a few weeks it’s been for Opie & Anthony fans. Yesterday, longtime broadcaster Anthony Cumia was suspended from Twitter seemingly after a coming to the defense of his former Opie & Anthony co-host, Gregg “Opie” Hughes, who was fired from recently fired by SiriusXM.
Last week, the satellite radio provider confirmed it had parted ways with Opie, dropping his cult “Opie Radio” show without further explanation. Shortly after, Opie clarified on social media that he’d been “fired SO fired,” promising fans he’d be back on air somewhere soon.
All of this comes after Opie’s very messy separation from the duo’s former co-host, comic Jim Norton.
Reporting on last week’s SiriusXM shakeup, A.V. Club writer Katie Rife posted a short piece titled, “SiriusXM wipes away last trace of Opie & Anthony by firing Opie,” which apparently didn’t go over well with the parties involved. Rife’s tone throughout the piece is pretty negative, and it’s clear she’s no fan of Opie, Cumia, or Norton – while reporting on how Opie “has also managed to get his ass fired,” she managed to work plenty of personal opinion in just two paragraphs.
Rather than ignore what he deemed an inaccurate report, Cumia couldn’t stay quiet, posting a Tweet that was quickly reported to the social media site as abusive;. Since his account is down, you can’t see the actual Tweet (which reads “ur inaccurate shit piece on Opie’s firing is almost as embarrassing as a fat old trans looking twat w/period red hair”), but luckily, this is the internet and other outlets made screenshots of it:
Unsurprisingly, Cumia ended up getting banned – not once, but threetimes within the past week. Following the third block, things started to get even crazier.
Apparently, Cumia gave up on trying to revive his original @AnthonyCumia account, switching to a new handle, @AnthonyCumiaAlt, which was almost immediately deleted by Twitter. From there, it appeared Cumia jumped platforms, moving to a different, Twitter-esque platform called GAB; several messages were posted and deleted (including one referring to his A.V. Club rival as a “whore”). But that account later seemed to be invalidated by Cumia’s producer.
As of the time of this posting, Cumia’s back on Twitter, with “alt alt account” @AnthonyCumiaxyz. Which he’s validated through a selfie and his Facebook page.

We’ll see how long this one lasts!
Cumia now hosts The Anthony Cumia Show on his own network, Compound Media, and he’s expected to comment on all the drama during this afternoon’s broadcast.
He’ll also be appearing on tonight’s episode of the Legion of Skanks podcast, along with comic Bonnie McFarlane, and we imagine the conversation will be pretty dominated by the past week’s news.
