Last week, we mentioned the backlash that Ari Shaffir received from his tweets about Kobe Bryant’s death. Actions that resulted in both being dropped by his digital representation agency, and one NYC club cancelling his performance after receiving death threats.

Well now it appears ticket members have been notified about the cancellation of his forthcoming stand-up special. The special, titled Jew was scheduled to record at NYU’s Skirball Theater this Friday. Today, a user on Reddit, ind3lible08, posted a photo to the Legion of Skanks subreddit of the email he received announcing the cancellation, essentially stating the production company pulled out of the project.

As of this story being written there’s no confirmation of the cancellation on NYU’s ticketing site, the link is still live and if you were to attempt to purchase tickets you’d get a sold out notification.

This further outcome is not all that surprising but unfortunate that outrage over jokes have gone this far. As we’ve seen before this sort of fallout is not uncommon in the modern age. It will be interesting to see how things play out further.

We will update this with further information as it comes out.
