About five years ago, we almost lost Artie Lange, but he’s back and funnier than ever with his new special The Stench of Failure. Now a two-time best-selling author and alumni of The Howard Stern Show, Lange is ready to present his darkest moments in a way that has his audience laughing rambunctiously rather than crying painfully. The Stench of Failure showcases Lange dealing with life after his (thankfully) unsuccessful suicide attempt in the best way possible: jokes on jokes on jokes.
Comedy Central will premiere The Stench of Failure October 18 on TV. Naturally, though, a name as big as Artie Lange will stir up intense impatience in fans who have to wait this long. So Comedy Central is doing the awesome thing and releasing the uncensored, extended version October 13 via CC: Stand-Up Direct. On Tuesday, October 21st the special will be released far and wide in all retail marketplaces digital and physical. Because apps are awesome, the broadcasted version of the special will be available on Comedy Central’s app the day after it airs on the channel.
The Stench of Failure was taped in the New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s Victoria Theater, in Newark, NJ. It’s Lange’s first major moment since the cancellation of his DirecTV show The Artie Lange Show, and pre-screenings have resulted in promising remarks. Both longtime fans and newcomers will find themselves in awe of just how deftly Lange transforms his inner turmoil into external comedy. Certainly not a failure by any means.
