“Atlanta” to end after upcoming fourth season

February 17, 2022      Andrew Buss      News, Television

Here’s some news that shouldn’t be too surprising, given how long it took us to get a third season. But today it was announced that FX’s Atlanta will wrap up after season four.

While season three is premiering on March 24th, the final season is slated for later this year. News came out last year that they opted to film the two seasons back-to-back. And contrary to what fans may think, both seasons were written before the pandemic ever began.

“The new season is everything you’ve come to expect from Atlanta, which is to say, expect the unexpected. Sit back and enjoy the trip,” FX head John Landgraf told reporters during the network’s Television Critics Association presentation.

Glover, who left his overall deal with FX last year, said “To be honest, I kind of wanted it to end after season two.” He continues, “When the conditions are right for something to happen, it happens, and when they’re not, it doesn’t. The story was always supposed to be what it was.”

So there it is. While it is coming to an end, on the plus side, there’s still two last seasons to look forward to!
