Big Jay Oakerson, one of the best comedians working in NYC clubs these days, has reached a new milestone in is rising comedy career. That will be an hour stand-up special on Comedy Central. The news was broken to Oakerson during the live broadcast of his podcast, Legion of Skanks tonight.
In the last few months Oakerson’s career has started to get the attention it deserves. In addition to a new haircut, his recent accomplishments include a crowd work comedy album on Comedy Central Records, his crowd work show What’s Your Effing Deal?! happening in festivals and markets across the US, TV appearances on Dave Attell’s Comedy Underground, This Is Not Happening, and Inside Amy Schumer (Schumer later praising his comedic ability on a Grantland podcast). Add on two very popular podcasts (Legion of Skanks and The SDR Show), appearances on festivals like Bonnaroo and Oddball, and the long-rumored SiriusXM radio show with Dan Soder becoming a reality. He’s been on a tear of late.
What we’re saying here is that Oakerson is one to watch, if you haven’t been rooting for him already these last few years now is the time to start.
Here’s video of the news as it was shared with Jay as Legion of Skanks broadcasted live on The Anthony Cumia Network. Congrats Jay!
