Now that he is out of jail, Cosby may be wanting to go back on the road.
Yesterday, his spokesperson Andrew Wyatt told reporters that a new comedy tour may be in the works. “He stayed up until 2 in the morning telling jokes,” Wyatt told reporters camped yesterday. “This morning, he’s been talking to a number of promoters and comedy club owners over his breakfast this morning. … He’s just excited the way the world is welcoming him back.”
Just how excited the world is to welcome him back we imagine depends on who you ask. His release is incredibly controversial, especially since he was never exonerated for the horrible crimes he’s been accused of. Rather, he was released due to an overlooked technicality from his 2005 court cases. And something tells us that he won’t be so quickly embraced by the industry anymore.
But will audiences still come out to see Cosby? Who knows. After all, Cosby was still touring throughout 2015, even when he had protests outside his theater and even pouring in to interrupt the show at times. We imagine any places he plays now will be met with just as much – if not more – controversy. It’s all a matter of what promoter and venue is willing to have him at this point.
